A hotel in the Osaka skyline

Conrad Osaka opened in 2017 inside the Nakanoshima Festival Tower West, the hotel sits between the 33rd and 40th floors, so every room comes with a city view.

This is Conrad's first property in the Kansai region, designed by David Collins Studio (London), pairing Japanese minimalism with contemporary luxury.

The rooms we book

  • Deluxe Skyline · ¥45,000–65,000/night, south-facing, over Osaka downtown
  • Premium River · ¥58,000–78,000, Yodogawa River view
  • Conrad Suite · ¥150,000+, corner suite, 95 sqm
  • Imperial Suite · ¥350,000+, the finest suite in Kansai

Ask for a river view, the Yodogawa shows the city in more dimensions, and sunset hits beautifully.

Three restaurants on site

  • 40 Sky Bar & Lounge, on the 40th floor, 360° view, a cocktail bar
  • Kura, Japanese kappo with a private counter of just 8 seats
  • Atmos, Italian-Japanese fusion, the main breakfast venue

Wanvela always books Kura for one omakase evening, Chef Kazuhiro sources fish from Toyosu Market. ¥35,000 per guest.

Spa and pool

The indoor pool on the 33rd floor, full glass facing the river. The spa has five treatment rooms and uses Furutoshi Onsen water (trucked in from Hyogo prefecture).

"Conrad Osaka isn't a ryokan, it's Japan in its urban form, done well. If you're staying two nights in Osaka, this is the safe choice." - Wanvela Japan trip lead

Location in Osaka

Conrad is in Nakanoshima, between downtown Osaka and Umeda.

  • Osaka Castle · 12 minutes by taxi
  • Dotonbori · 15 minutes by metro
  • Universal Studios Japan · 25 minutes by car
  • Shin-Osaka Station (Shinkansen) · 18 minutes by metro
  • Kyoto · 50 minutes by Shinkansen

Why Conrad, not the Ritz-Carlton

Some ask why Wanvela uses Aman Tokyo but Conrad in Osaka, not the Ritz-Carlton. The reasons:

  • Ritz-Carlton Osaka in Umeda, partially blocked views, smaller rooms
  • Conrad rooms are 30% larger at the same price tier
  • Newer building (2017 vs 1997)
  • 40 Sky Bar is the best view bar in Kansai

Inside a Japan trip

We use Conrad Osaka as a two-night stay in our Japan 9-night itinerary, between Kyoto and the return flight. Clients use Conrad as a base for day trips to Nara, Himeji Castle, or Universal Studios.
