The most-asked question

"Does Wanvela recommend Business class?" is a question we get in one in three first conversations with clients. Our answer, it depends on the trip, the traveler's age, and the priorities.

TG Economy vs Business prices

Wanvela's primary routes, BKK to Europe direct (Rome, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Paris CDG):

  • TG Economy (V/W/L class) · THB 42,000–48,000 round trip
  • TG Premium Economy (R class) · THB 75,000–95,000 round trip
  • TG Business (J/C/D class) · THB 175,000–195,000 round trip
  • TG Royal Silk Business advance · THB 165,000 (booked 4+ months out)

Why Business is four times Economy

TG Business class from BKK to Europe:

  • 180° lie-flat bed (787-9 and A350)
  • Direct aisle access from every seat
  • 5-course Thai/International dining
  • Champagne Veuve Clicquot included
  • Salvatore Ferragamo pyjamas + amenity kit
  • Suvarnabhumi lounge access (Royal Silk Lounge or Royal Orchid Spa)
  • 40kg baggage + 7kg carry-on
  • Priority check-in and boarding

When Business pays off

Wanvela recommends Business class when:

  • Age 60+ · 11+ hours in an economy seat amplifies jet lag and leg swelling.
  • Honeymoon · It's part of the experience, flying Business as a couple is a good start.
  • 14+ day trips · The ROI of a useful first day, waking in Rome without jet lag is worth a full day of the trip.
  • Chronic conditions · Back pain, hypertension, lie-flat sleep genuinely helps.
  • Solo or couple · The cost premium per person is more manageable.

When Economy works

  • Under 45 · Sleeping in economy is plausible.
  • Trips of 7 nights or less · Every day is critical, no time to recover, but the cost-benefit of Business shrinks.
  • Families of 4+ · Four Business seats = THB 700,000+. Better spent on the trip itself.
  • Travelers flying 2–3 times a year · Routine handles it.

Premium Economy - the golden middle

TG Premium Economy at 75–95K is the option Wanvela uses most often for families, 30% larger seat, footrest, better catering, 30kg baggage, BKK lounge access.

For comparison:

  • Economy: 78 cm pitch / 30 cm width
  • Premium Economy: 96 cm pitch / 39 cm width
  • Business: 188 cm pitch (lie-flat) / 55 cm width
"A family of four, average age 50, we recommended Premium Economy for the adults plus Economy for the children, saving THB 400,000 versus all-Business. They put the money into Le Sirenuse's Junior Suite instead." - Wanvela consultation note

Wanvela tips

  • Book 4–6 months ahead · TG Business prices rise 15–20% in the last 3 months.
  • Avoid weekend departures · Friday and Saturday flights are more expensive than Tuesday–Thursday.
  • Use Royal Orchid Plus miles · 90,000 miles = one one-way Business BKK–Europe.
  • Open jaw · BKK–CDG out, FCO–BKK return, often no more expensive than round-trip CDG, and saves domestic transfer.

Other carriers

On some trips Wanvela uses:

  • Singapore Airlines · via SIN, better Business than TG, 15–25% pricier
  • Qatar Airways · via DOH, Qsuite is among the world's best Business products
  • Emirates · via DXB, A380 Business class with onboard bar

Wanvela handles flight booking as part of the service, clients don't need to check seats themselves.
