What a Schengen Visa is

A Schengen Visa is one visa valid across 27 countries in the Schengen Area, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland (and others). For Thai passports, it is required for travel under 90 days.

How long it usually takes

VFS Global (the visa operator for France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands) processes in 15 working days under normal conditions. During peak windows (May–August, November–December), it can stretch to 30 days.

Wanvela books appointments 60–90 days before travel, a buffer for delays.

Documents required

Baseline documents:

  • Passport (at least 6 months of validity, 2 blank pages)
  • Photograph 3.5×4.5 cm with white background (taken within 6 months)
  • Schengen visa application form
  • Travel insurance with at least €30,000 coverage (Wanvela provides THB 3 million)
  • Flight booking (not a ticket, booking confirmation)
  • Hotel booking confirmations for every night
  • Six months of bank statements (balance of THB 150,000+ recommended)
  • Employment letter or business registration
  • Trip itinerary from the agency (Wanvela provides)

Documents Wanvela prepares

As part of our service, we prepare:

  • Detailed itinerary letter on TAT License (11/13179)
  • Hotel booking confirmations with vouchers
  • Flight bookings (PNR)
  • Travel insurance certificate
  • An agency-issued bank balance letter on behalf of the traveler (adds credibility)

Costs and fees

  • Visa fee · €80 per guest (about THB 3,200)
  • VFS service fee · THB 650 per guest
  • Wanvela handling · included in the package (no extra charge)

Choosing the embassy

The rule, apply at the embassy of the country where you'll spend the most time.

  • Italy 7-night trip → French embassy (if entering via Paris) or Italian (if direct to Rome)
  • France + Switzerland → French embassy
  • Norway + Iceland → Norwegian or Icelandic (Norwegian has an office on Sukhumvit; Icelandic goes through Norwegian)
"Wanvela prepares the application for the client, they only need to go to VFS to sign and give biometrics. They don't have to figure out which documents go where." - CAN, founder note

Wanvela tips

  • Book a morning VFS slot (8–9 am), faster service, shorter wait
  • Travelers with 2+ past Schengen visas can request a multi-entry 1–2 year visa
  • For travelers 65+, Wanvela recommends adding a doctor's letter confirming fitness to travel
  • Children under 18, birth certificate + parental consent

If a visa is rejected

Statistics: rejection rate for Thai citizens in 2025, 4.2% for France, 3.8% for Italy. Wanvela clients over the past three years: zero rejections.

If a visa is rejected, Wanvela assists with an appeal within 14 days, and refunds in full if the appeal does not succeed (part of the Wanvela Promise).
