The most frequent question Wanvela receives about Provence is, "What month do I come to see the lavender?" The real answer, late June to mid-July. And it's narrower than people think.
For 2026, the Conservatoire des Plantes Aromatiques forecasts peak bloom between 25 June and 18 July, depending on field altitude.
Two main areas come up most often.
Wanvela tip, if you arrive early July, you can still catch Valensole's peak, then drive 1 hour to Sault on the 8th–10th and catch the early bloom there in the same day.
We take clients to four spots that aren't on the standard tourist circuit.

We use La Mirande in Avignon as a three-night base for the Provence Lavender Trip, 1 hour 20 minutes from Valensole, 35 minutes from Gordes, 1 hour 30 minutes from Sault. Centrally placed.
Golden hour in Provence in July is 6:00–7:30 in the morning and 19:30–21:00 in the evening. The lavender looks best at evening, the angled light creates shadow between the rows. Bees are in the fields after 9:30 am, so for those who are nervous, leave at 6:30.
